Common questions
- How many KwaZulu-Natal tenders require B-BBEE certificate or affidavit?
- 22 open right now, out of 750 on record for KwaZulu-Natal. The list below shows open tenders first, and the numbers change daily as notices are published and close.
- Can I bid on a KwaZulu-Natal tender without B-BBEE certificate or affidavit?
- Not on these ones — where a tender lists B-BBEE certificate or affidavit as a requirement, a bid without it is normally disqualified at the administrative stage before anyone reads your pricing. Tenders that do not ask for it are a separate list; browse the other requirement pages to find them.
- Do I need a B-BBEE certificate to bid?
- You need proof of status. Missing it rarely disqualifies you outright, but it costs you preference points, and on a close bid those points decide the award.
- Do I need a verification certificate, or is an affidavit enough?
- An Exempted Micro Enterprise, meaning annual turnover under R10 million, can use a sworn affidavit signed before a Commissioner of Oaths. It is free and carries the same weight as a certificate. A Qualifying Small Enterprise, R10 million to R50 million, may also use an affidavit unless it is black-owned and claiming an enhanced level. Above R50 million you need verification by a SANAS-accredited agency.
- What does the 80/20 or 90/10 split mean?
- It is how the buyer weights price against preference. On lower-value tenders, 80 points go to price and 20 to specific goals including B-BBEE; on higher-value tenders it is 90 and 10. A strong B-BBEE level cannot rescue an uncompetitive price, but it regularly separates two close bids.

Most rejected bids never reach the pricing stage — a missing form, an unsigned page, an expired certificate. We check yours page by page against that tender's own requirement list.
