Frequently asked questions
- When do I have to register for PAYE, UIF and SDL?
- PAYE and UIF apply once you employ people. The Skills Development Levy is payable where your total annual payroll exceeds R500,000; at or below that figure an employer is exempt from SDL.
- What is an EMP201 and when is it due?
- The monthly employer declaration to SARS covering PAYE, UIF and SDL. It is due by the 7th of the following month, or the last business day before the 7th when that falls on a weekend or public holiday, and paying late attracts a penalty.
- Do you submit my EMP201 returns to SARS?
- No. This is software configuration and training only. We do not submit EMP201, EMP501, or any SARS filing on your behalf, and nothing in this service is tax advice.
- What do I actually get?
- Payroll software selected and configured for your business, your employees loaded with the correct PAYE, UIF and SDL settings, your first payslip run done with you, and a simple monthly checklist so you can run it yourself afterwards.
- Are software subscription fees included?
- No. We typically configure a free or low-cost South African payroll tool, and any subscription fees are for your account.
